THE HOLY GRAIL OF PERFORMANCE ARTPerformed at "The Pearl" in Dayton Ohio March 12, 2006 by; Jack Bowman as Izan Knarf |

Hell's Bullet was created as a performance art piece that had all the attributes of a quality performance.
The psychology part is hidden but when seen or analyzed it is obvious. I based it all on an anti-capitalist message. It was on a subconscious level. But I mentioned Capitalism three times. Referred to money and capitalist products and used the messenger as a Nazi Clown from Hell. I then at the end added the violence with the bullet catch.

1. A performance art piece is unprecedented . Even though "Hell's Bullet" appears to be only a magic show. It is not. The magic show was the conveyer of the performance. It did have many unique parts.
2. It is difficult to censor since it has a good possibility of never being done before. "Hell's Bullet" had two factors that may have been censored if the organizer had known what the performance was. One was the shooting the fireball into the audience. After the "Great White" fire in the Rhode Island Club in 2003, I was concerned about the fireball. The other part was the shooting a gun. No one knew exactly what I was going to do. No one still knows exactly what I did. At the Cleveland Performance Art Festival in 1993 I was asked if I had a gun and I told the organizer yes but it only had blanks. He told me I had to take it out of the theater or I could not perform. It lessened my performance and reinforced my need for secrecy.
3. It is usually very current. This means that it is usually relevant of today because of the short time between conception and performance. "Hell's Bullet" was a necessary performance due to the excesses of Capitalism we are now experiencing.
4. Performance art can involve the audience with taste, smell and sounds not available with electronic media and not practical with conventional theater. This is due to the usually small audience. With "Hell's Bullet" the audience could smell the nitrate of the fireball as well as the sulfur of the gunshot.
5. Performance art is the ultimate in creativity. Since it has so many possibilities at creativity, it's essence tends to become creativity. While I created "Hell's Bullet" I was constantly aware of offering something new to the audience.
6. Occupies an environment with specific objects and actions for a specific amount of time. "Hell's Bullet" was performed in a new environment. A dance club. The objects (props) and actions (most of them) were planned for a specific amount of time.
7. The space time restraints of performance art does not allow for elaborate sets/props and cost very little to produce. For "Hell's Bullet" I spent very little additional. (glue, glitter, tissue paper) The remainder was from other performances.
8. Performance art can be produced in a coffee house setting. "Hell's Bullet" was performed in a small commercial establishment.
9. Since the audience is usually small (around 30) the performers can actually give things to the audience, such as food or money. . For "Hell's Bullet" the audience was large. I still threw pennies into the audience.
10. Performance Art is brief, about 15 minutes long. This is a problem in that you cannot get people to come out to watch a 15 minute performance. Therefore, Performance Art Festivals are appropriate in contrast to an individual performance. "Hell's Bullet" was about seven minutes long. The audience came to see other performances as well. It was a type of Performance Art Festival.
